Static Control Hosts Annual Distributor Summit
Sanford, N.C. – (May 5, 2015) – Static Control’s
global distributor partners traveled to the world headquarters April 20-23 to
attend the Annual Distributor Summit. More than 15 countries were represented
at the event, which included three days of product discussions, sales
opportunities, upcoming promotions, industry updates and analysis of each
individual market.
“This annual meeting is vital to share ideas and
strategies. We are a global company with a presence in every inhabited
continent, and our distribution network reaches more than 15,000 remanufacturers
around the world. It is critical they understand Static Control’s vision for
the future and also discuss local strategies for each market,” said Juan Carlos
Bonell, Static Control Vice President of Sales for Global Distributor Markets.
“We are continuously working together with our global partners and this meeting
is a great opportunity to show them our support.”
In addition to business discussions, attendees also
participated in a paintball team competition. “Social activities like this one
help bond our team together. It boosts problem-solving abilities and allows the
group to independently devise and implement strategies with a specific goal in
mind,” said Bonell.
“Static Control has been very supportive of our
business, and remanufacturers around the world recognize Static Control
distributors as the most solid distribution network in the industry. We are
proud of being part of the Static Control family and support all strategies the
company is implementing for our region,” added Rafael Camacho, general manager
of Componentes de Colombia and Componentes De Ecuador, the distributor in
Colombia and Ecuador.
Static Control also presented awards for top sales
performance to distributors Componentes De Ecuador in Ecuador, Trascopier in
Argentina and Lago Print in Venezuela. Static Control distributor partners also
serve remanufacturers in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Italy,

Static Control Releases Statement Regarding Upcoming Case
Sanford, N.C. – (June 30, 2014) – Static Control
stands proudly behind the innovative and patented technologies they have
developed in order to offer replacement chips for HP® ink jet cartridges
without breaching the intellectual property of the OEM.
The million lawsuit HP filed against Datel
Holdings on June 23 further validates the value and importance of investing in
reverse engineering and respect for intellectual property. In the official
complaint, HP claims that Datel schemed to misappropriate trade secrets
involving the master key codes on ink jet chips, allowing Datel to develop
non-genuine chips for use on cartridges.
“We don’t scheme at Static Control. We don’t
misappropriate. We develop our chip technology in-house. We manufacture our
chips in-house. We understand the importance of knowing your supply chain, and
that’s why we do it ourselves. We are our supply chain,” said Bryan Bonacum,
Vice President of North American Sales. “We stand by our products and will be
happy to answer questions about our products or process.”
He continued, “You can’t just look at a chip and see
the IP that is involved. You can’t see the difference between respectfully
reverse-engineered technology and technology that has been developed illegally.
That’s why it comes down to knowing and trusting your chip supplier. HP alleges
chip companies who sell to clones got their technology from Datel. I think
remanufacturers need to ask themselves who Datel Holdings was involved with and
how much they really know about the chips they purchase.”
Bonacum added, “HP has been vigorously defending their
IP. At Static Control, we respect the intellectual property of OEMs and protect
our own innovations through patents. Cases like this are good for the
aftermarket if it helps rid the industry of patent infringing products and
clone cartridges.”
Static Control has long advocated the importance of
knowing the supply chain of products to avoid patent and IP infringement.
“Ask for it in writing that they developed the
technology and reverse-engineered their own chips. We will gladly do that,”
Bonacum said. “It is truly shocking that after all this time and all the
lawsuits there are still companies that do not respect the IP of others.”

Static Control Sponsors
Another Successful Focus On Europe Event
Reading, U.K. (June 27, 2014) - This
year’s Focus On Europe conference,
hosted by The Recycler, was once
again a resounding success. Static Control was a sponsor of the two-day event
held in Barcelona on June 5-6 at the Hotel Salles Pere IV. The conference
brought together delegates from all corners of the industry, from
remanufacturers, suppliers and resellers, to empties brokers, industry analysts
and cartridge associations.
Jason Doran,
Static Control’s General Sales Manager for Western Europe, gave the
presentation “Our Own Worst Enemy?”, which looked at how aftermarket members
dealing in clones are affecting the whole industry: by encouraging more legal
action from the OEMs; deterring users from other non-OEM consumables; and
perpetuating the price war, which drastically limits the aftermarket’s growth
potential.
The series of
presentations also covered topics including current and forecast industry
trends, salesmanship in remanufacturing and the importance of promoting value
over price, the need for sustainability and the excellent work being done by
ETIRA and ARTI-Italia.
“We want to
congratulate the Recycler for
continuing to put on an annual event that always feels fresh and generates new
ideas,” said Ken Lalley, Sales Director of Static Control. “Every year we come
away with a renewed perspective as we’ve had the opportunity to hear the point
of view of so many differing members of the remanufacturing community. We are
proud to support valuable events such as this one, which encourages ideas from
the very best of the industry’s representatives.”

HP, Lexmark
Discussed IP Issues At Static
Control’s Seminar in Lodz
Static Control reported it hosted a customer
seminar in Lodz, Poland on April 25. At the event, Lexmark’s Worldwide Brand
Protection Manager Andrew Gardner and HP attorney Tomasz Koryzma spoke about IP
(intellectual property) concerns.
Mr.
Gardner expressed Lexmark’s strong commitment against clone cartridges. Also,
he revealed the OEM’s legal actions against clone sellers and the raids it
commissioned earlier this year in Germany. Later, Mr. Koryzma noted HP’s effort
in protecting their IP in Poland and discussed the legal risk of selling infringing
products.
“It
was a great experience to have representatives from both Lexmark and HP here at
the event presenting alongside our team to help educate remanufacturers of the
importance of intellectual property,” said Sales Director Ken Lalley. “Static
Control has taken a strong stance against new build clones and we are happy to
see OEMs such as Lexmark and HP join the fight to rid the industry of clone
cartridges. We are very pleased with the success of this kick-off seminar and
look forward to the additional seminars we will hold throughout Europe and
Central and Western Asia.”
As
was revealed, Static Control will launch a series of 22 information-intensive
sessions. Those seminars are free for current customers of the company. The
next seminar will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria on May 14 at the Grand Hotel
Sofia. Guest speakers from trade associations and OEMs will attend the upcoming

More Static Control SKUs Granted Nordic Swan Ecolabel
Products carrying the Nordic Ecolabel, normally called Nordic Swan, must meet extremely high environmental standards.
Aftermarket suppliers Static Control, for the second time in 2014, announced additional toner SKUs have fulfilled the environmental and climate criteria of this environmentally compliant certification.
The Nordic Ecolabel aims to “encourage manufacturers to develop environmentally sound products and services” and to contribute to “sustainable consumption.” To acquire the green certification, a life-cycle perspective of the product is analyzed, i.e., the product's impact on the environment from raw material/source to waste. Criteria is also set with regard to quality, health aspects and performance/functionality, according to www.nordic-ecolabel.org
Ken Lalley, Sales Director for Static Control said, “Sustainability has always been at the heart of this industry, being based on the premise of reusing and reducing waste. We know that the environmental benefits of remanufactured cartridges are one of the reasons consumers choose to buy them, and we will continue to assist our customers in promoting the green message as much as we can.
“The Nordic Ecolabel serves as an excellent marketing tool in communicating to end users that each accredited cartridge is environmentally sound, as well as strengthening the quality image of the remanufacturer’s brand.” Lalley added.
